We Found our Puppy ! We fell in love with a Fawn male at the first breeder we went to. It was hard to pick one, they were all so cute and looked like they loved each other so much we wanted to take them all. We made plans with the Breeder to pick him up in a few weeks as we are going to move May 22nd.

We talked during the week and then spoke with the breeder to see if we could pickup Aegis (his new name) this weekend vs waiting till we move. He was cuter than I remember and slept almost the whole way home.

What a weekend, I don't remember Boot Camp being this hard. We spent the weekend trying to get Aegis comfortable and settled in as well as getting our cats used to the new puppy. Aegis was excited, the cats not so much. Neither cat wants anything to do with him when he's awake but when hes sleeping they come check him out. They will grow to love him (or at least tolerate him) and he will settle down a bit and not scare them so much. We also made some last minute trips to the store to pickup some items we forgot (Shampoo, more treats and puppy pads). Our Neighbor has a 3 month old Mastiff (Sam) that we introduced Aegis to but poor Aegis is less than half his weight (14 pounds vs 34) and Sam just bowls Aegis over when they play and after awhile Aegis gets tired and grumpy. But they both love to play and its good exercise.

I read a ton of books and other material before getting a Boxer and thought I was prepared but I was not expecting it to be this hard. The sleepless nights spend carrying him downstairs and standing out in the cold just hoping he will pee there vs inside. Even when he is asleep I cant sleep since I am worrying about him waking up and needing to go outside or worse yet some ridiculous reason. For example he starts to hiccup during the night and I start to worry its a heart attack so I watch him then downstairs I go to read up online. I feel like an idiot but cant help it. He woke up during the night Monday morning around 1AM and would not go back to sleep upstairs (he's in a case by the bed with his pillow) so I took him downstairs so we would not wake up Rebecca and he spent his first extended time in the play pen. He was not thrilled with this and cried for a very long time till he fell asleep. It was very hard to sit in the other room and listen to him cry since he was alone but I could not go pick him up or else he would learn that crying allows him to get what he wants.

Aegis sleeps in his kennel alongside the bed. The kennel is a fabric type that can open from the top so he can stand up and wake me if he has to go outside. He is very good at the potty training at night and has never had an accident but the same cant be said during the day. He still has a few accidents during the day but he's getting better and often its our fault as we get busy and don't notice when he starts to sniff around.

We are trying to take as many pictures as we can but he's not an easy target. As soon as we try to snap a picture he runs off and either its blurry or hes halfway out of the picture. The only time we can get a decent shot it seems is if he takes a nap. He is still playing with his Friend Sam (the Mastiff) but Sam is growing so fast he's getting even bigger. Sam is great though and they both get so excited when its play time at night. It also makes the night a little better as Aegis is drained after playing with Sam.

We moved into the new house but are still in the process of un packing everything. There is so much work to do and Aegis is the worst helper in the world as he thinks everything is a game for his benefit. If I am moving a hose he thinks its a tug-o-war, if I sweep the garage he attacks the pile and drags off the cardboard. But overall I think he likes the new place and loves the yard. We have met a few neighbors and many have dogs also so he has plenty of friends already. He really good for the first week in the house and did not go potty inside at all and then all of the sudden he had 3 acciidents in a row. Not sure what the cause was but it seems to have stopped again. He also only needs to get up once a night to go potty now so we are getting pretty good sleep. Hes growing so fast its alsmost not fair, hes over 20 pounds already and only 13 weeks old. Time flies !
